The Loft
South Pioneer Square loft residence, Seattle, WA USA. Our funky, fun studio-living loft, renovated from warehouse in South Pioneer Square, Seattle, WA, from Jan 91 to Aug 94. We renovated this pretty funky warehouse space into studio and living space. We built our own kitchen, cabinets, elevated sleeping loft, closets, etc, re-wired, plumbed natural gas, restored fixtures, yatta ya, a lot of sweat and material and fixtures recycling, a lot of carpentry, electrical, etc, a lot of painting (including trompe l'oeil), a lot of wirebrushing paint off brick, etc. A lot of stuff. But fun, and extremely rewarding.
Arbor Heights
Arbor Heights home, West Seattle, WA USA. A beloved renovation of a home built in 1932, that had seen some butt ugly makeovers over the years. This place was in dreadful shape inside and out. The landscaping was completely dead. The inside was trashed. We stripped kitchen cabinets down to good wood and refinished. We repainted everything. Tore up dingy ugly carpet and refinished the wood floors. Refloored kitchen. Took out a section of basement wall to install French doors. A ton of landscaping, just a ton. Veggie garden. Built a garage in back, off the alley. French drained, as required. Ripped out ugly lighting and installed beautiful handmade lighting fixtures from Mexico. Ripped out ugly composition shingles (what was somebody thinking?) from window gables out front, and installed nice clay tiles with nice mortared tile-to-stucco interface. A ton of landscaping. Laying patios. Oil-to-Gas conversion. Rewiring. Etc.

Harvest Bazaar Fire Relief Fund-Raiser
2003. There were catastrophic fires all over Southern California. We felt compelled to host a neighborhood fire relief fund-raising event that would be a lot of fun for the many kids and parents in our neighborhood. There were a lot of games, a jumper, raffles, prizes, vendors, free eats, treats, grill, and beverages, hands-on fun projects. A friend who sells firetrucks, brought a shiny, loud one by, and provided rides. There was a pronounced Christmas vibe, and there was even a Santa to be photographed with (as well as confide Christmas wishes in). Kids and neighbors had fun, and we raised a decent amount of money. I forget exactly how much, but it was a decent amount, and it was given to an organization that matched it dollar for dollar, so it turned out nicely. The rains eventually came, later, after much catastrophic damage and some loss of life. Heavy deluges eventually caused major mudslides to ravaged, denuded hills; crested rivers; major flooding; etc. Much catastrophic damage and some loss of life.
