August 17-21

Anna-Louise and Amelia-Rose will be doing their last 2009 organized activites, an aquatics camp at the Washington Park Pool in Sunnyvale. Morning swim class. PM rec swim, hockey, soccer, volleyball, etc.

August 10-14

Amelia-Rose and Anna-Louise have been making some amazing, full course meals at the Young Chefs Academy in Sunnyvale. Everything scratch: Pastas, sauces, doughs, etc.

August 1-2

We camped at Saratoga Springs, Saratoga, CA, along with two other couples and their children. Had a blast hiking trails, swimming, rocketing down giant tube slides, etc. Saratoga Springs is a great campground and events facility in an idyllic woodland setting just outside of Saratoga, just before the turn for the Walden West outdoor school.

July 19-26

Amelia-Rose and Anna-Louise visited Grandma and Grandpa Whipple in Vancouver, WA, and also got to hang out with their cousins, Rachel and Emily Whipple, down visiting from Alaska, and Megan, Brianna, Stefan and Johnnie Forsell from Marysville, WA

July 18

Finally got lucky and got out to Capitola early enough to find parking, then had a splendid beachside breakfast, windowshopped, and hung out at the beach all day. Capitola is one of those dripping charm places and has been featured too numerous times in Sunset Magazine. Have some pics (which are displayed on this site).

July 11

Celebrated the birthday of Sherri Barbick's boy, Paolo, at a KAO outside of Petaluma. Sherri, Alario, the boys, and several friends/families had a fun festive weekend of cabin camping. Everybody's doing fine and life is great for them.

July 5-9

Anna-Louise and Amelia-Rose visited their great friend, Sophia, at our old Murrieta, CA neighborhood.

July 1-5

Sophia, Anna-Louise's best friend from our old neighborhood in Murrieta, CA, and her mom, Amy, a close friend of Kim's, came to visit. July 2, Sophia, Anna and Amelia had a blast of a day at the Fremont Aqua Park. July 3 was appropriately capped off at night with a nice bonfire and marshallow/S'Mores roast. July 4 we got out to the Santa Clara Central Park festivities early enough to lay out our stuff under the shade of a gracious majestic oak, then much later at dark came the really spectacular fireworks show, one of the best we've ever seen (easily the most spectacular grand finale).

June 20-27

Kim, Anna-Louise and Amelia-Rose enjoyed the High Sierra Summer Camp, near Lake Tahoe, NV. The girls had a blast: Horseback riding, swimming, white water rafting, rock climbing, kayaking, taking on 'challenges', etc.

June 9

Amelia's Brownie Troop had their Fly-up Ceremony at the Washington Park Rec Center, Sunnyvale, CA. It was a nice ceremony. Their badges and patches were also handed out, and we have a lovely potluck dinner with the Brownies and their parents.

June 7

The girls and Amelia's Brownie Troop were invited to visit the Santa Clara Gold Pride women's professional soccer team at their training facilities.
